In Memory Of Kaos

Sometimes in your life, something comes along that really challenges you as a person. Challenges your patience, your determination and your skills. In return, it gives you happiness, love and laughter.

For Cathy that something was Kaos. Kaos lived up to her name in every sense of the word. Growling at people at 8 weeks old, she was the protection dog for our other Schutzhund dogs. Company was warned "Don’t look at Kaos, just ignore her!"

Cathy’s hard work paid off, royally. Kaos, known later in life simply as Kay, turned into an awesome dog. Anything that you asked of her, she was willing to do. Bad hips kept her from competing at high levels of any sport, but despite that, she titled in Schutzhund, AKC obedience and AKC sheep herding. She earned her Canine Good Citizens and was a certified Therapy Dog. The tester for TDI called her a "Poster Dog for the program".

Kaos loved to travel and was an ambassador for the breed at Niagara Falls, Grandfather Mountain, Rock City and Gatlinburg, to name just a few. Last year she took a short trip with her younger sister Halle through Georgia and South Carolina, running through the streams and walking along forest trails.

Unfortunately, like all of these creatures we love so much, they never stay with us forever. Tuesday, September 25, 2007, just one month shy of her 14th birthday, Kay decided that it was time to rest her weary body from its aches and pains.

Gone but never, ever forgotten.

It is well to love a dog when you have the opportunity, for fear you should find nothing else worth loving.
